  • Let's Pray Together at 1946

One of our elders, Stuart Ervin, sent the following idea to the rest of our elders. We would like to pass it on to you as a good recommendation.

Daniel preached an encouraging message, “God is our refuge and strength,” from Psalms chapter 46. Psalms is the 19th book of the Bible. Using those numbers, 1946, as military time, that would be 7:46 pm. Let’s make that a set time our church prays every day – a time to pray for our church, the nation, our elected representatives, the frontline workers, the sick, those with compromised immune systems and existing medical conditions. Let’s be the church that prays about this current crisis every day from our homes at 1946, that is 7:46 pm. Please join us in this endeavor.

  • COVID Statement UPDATE (3/24/20)

    TUESDAY (3/24/20) COVID-19 UPDATE

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AND SHARE

After prayerful and thoughtful consideration, the Elders have decided that we will have NO PUBLIC worship gatherings on Wednesday, March 25th or Sunday, March 29th. ALL other church activities previously scheduled between March 24-29 have also been CANCELED.

As stated in a previous post, this is NOT a decision we have made lightly. We will continue working diligently to develop and provide online resources that you and your family can use at home to worship along with us. This week, we will, again, be recording our praise team leading us in songs of praise to the Lord. Along with the singing, we will include a time of corporate prayer, a meditation for the Lord’s Supper, an opportunity to partake of the Lord’s Supper, and Daniel will preach a message from God’s Word.

CC Kids will again have an opportunity to learn more about God’s word through an online lesson video. Activities to support the lesson, as well as songs will be provided to use as families see fit.

We would like to encourage you to make use of these worship opportunities. Please be sure to gather whatever supplies you may need to observe the Lord’s Supper. We normally use grape juice and small pieces of unleavened bread (it may be necessary to use saltines or oyster crackers under the circumstances).

  • COVID-19 Statement UPDATE (3/19/2020)

    THURSDAY (3/19/20) COVID-19 UPDATE

    PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST

Since we are UNABLE to meet together IN PERSON this coming Lord’s Day (3/22/20), we would like to provide the resources needed for each of us to still worship together IN SPIRIT, although we must do so REMOTELY IN OUR HOMES. In order to accomplish this, we will be recording our praise team leading us in songs of praise to the Lord (both traditional and contemporary options will be provided). Along with the singing, we will include a time of corporate prayer, a meditation for the Lord’s Supper, an opportunity to partake of the Lord’s Supper, and Daniel will preach a message from God’s Word. These recordings will be posted on our website (cccrichlands.org) and our Facebook page by 11:00 am on Sunday, March 22.

Additionally, CC Kids will also have an opportunity to participate in worship in their homes. A video recording of a short lesson and Bible story will be available to watch on Sunday morning. Activities that can be completed at home, as well as links to song videos will be provided to allow the children to have a “similar” experience to meeting at the church building. Please check the CC KIDS Group Page on Facebook or the Children’s Ministry section on the church’s website for the video recording and other links.

We would like to encourage you to make use of these worship opportunities. Please be sure to gather whatever supplies you may need to observe the Lord’s Supper. • COVID-19 Statement UPDATE (3-17-2020)

    TUESDAY (3/17/20) COVID-19 UPDATE

    PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST

The Elders and Preacher have met and discussed at length our response to the coronavirus outbreak. It has been decided that we will evaluate our worship gatherings and activities on a week by week basis. This will allow us to make sound decisions based on current information, since the situation continues to change rapidly.

After prayerful and thoughtful consideration, the Elders have unanimously decided that we will have NO worship gatherings on Wednesday, March 18th or Sunday, March 22nd. ALL other church activities previously scheduled between March 17-22 have also been CANCELED.

This is NOT a decision we have made lightly. As stated in a previous post, we are ALWAYS SERIOUS about the need for Christians to worship together, in keeping with New Testament teaching. Additionally, we are COMMITTED to patterning ourselves and this congregation after the example of the New Testament Church. However, we believe that, under the present circumstances, we CAN STILL worship together in spirit while doing so remotely.

Therefore, we are working diligently to develop and provide online resources that you and your family can use at home to worship along with us. We will provide more details about these resources and their availability as soon as possible.

We will be sending out further updates regarding this matter. So please continue checking our Facebook page as well as the church website for more information.

  • COVID-19 Statement (3-14-2020)

In light of growing concerns for individual health and safety, we feel it is best to cancel all church services for Sunday, March 15, 2020. The sermon previously planned for tomorrow will be recorded and posted on the church's Facebook page and website.

  • COVID-19 Statement (3-13-2020)

The recent outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has created much fear and uncertainty in our society. We have no way of knowing the extent of the effects COVID-19 will have on our community. However, we are monitoring the situation closely, and striving to ensure we make both wise and God-honoring decisions.

At Community Christian Church of Christ, the safety and health of everyone, especially those who are vulnerable, is of utmost importance to us. Nevertheless, we do not want to merely give into fear. At the same time, we refuse to be flippant about this situation, and we want to ensure you that we are approaching this matter seriously, prayerfully, and dependent upon the wisdom which God supplies.

As a local body of Christians, we seek to pattern ourselves after the example of the church revealed in the pages of the New Testament. On account of this, we take the matter of meeting together on the first day of the week very seriously. Acts 2:42 tells us that the early church was in the habit of “continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Additionally, we are instructed in Hebrews 10:25 that we should “not [give] up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

In light of these things, Community Christian Church of Christ WILL HOLD SERVICES AS USUAL on Sunday, March 15, 2020. However, if you do not feel well or if you have cold-like or flu-like symptoms, we encourage you exercise precaution and remain at home in order to avoid passing anything on to others. If you have traveled to an area that is on high alert for COVID-19, we ask that you refrain from attending church functions until a 14-day time frame has been observed whether you are exhibiting symptoms or not. Additionally, if you are someone who would fall into a “high risk” category regarding COVID-19 or if you take care of someone who is, we encourage you to exercise sound judgment in your decision to attend services or not. For those who do attend, it is advised that personal contact (hugs, handshakes, fist bumps, etc.) be limited or avoided altogether.

Whether you choose to attend or not, please follow the guidelines about handwashing. Do your best to be safe and to look out for the safety of others. And remember, God is still in control.
